Papers. 1847-1855.

Correspondence between Admiral Philip P. King, John Williams of the Royal Astronomical Society and John Lee, F.R.S. relating to the operation of the Parramatta Observatory. Also, press cuttings concerning the Observatory. In 1847 King was appointed to a Board of Examination of the Observatory -" ... we found them [the books and instruments] correct, as for that all were in their places - but- as to condition, it was truly lamentable to see such fine instruments so much injured. I hope that some active person will be appointed ..." In 1849, Lee proposed that the Observatory be placed under the superintendence of Admiral King. There are also suggestions regarding the proposed new Observatory.
